In 2023, I crashed and burned. I’d spent two decades driving myself into the ground, raising kids, grinding away at a digital marketing career, and doing any number of additional projects that kept me distracted from the work I needed to do on myself.
I spent the first half of 2023 reclaiming my time (and my nervous system), and in September decided it was time to pursue my lifelong dream of being an author.
I’m currently working on my first novel, which I hope to publish in 2025. It’s a story about a young woman living in Austin, Texas in 1998. She discovers herself and her purpose on a road trip across west Texas, with the help of an extraterrestrial visitor. This novel is a love-letter to my generation (Gen X) and a commentary on the tension between our individual and the collective selves.
Daniela Quirke is my nom de plume. I live in Austin, Texas. My friends call me Q.
